New Websites

The following websites were migrated over the summer. Check them out!

Expectations

Dr. Maura Heyn shared some guidance for the remaining departments at the August Admin Council meeting. To recap, here are some points to remember:

  • The ITS deadline of 6/30/2024 for site migrations has passed. I was given leeway due to the larger volume of sites under my purview, but sites must still be migrated as soon as possible.
  • Department sites will launch with only the higher priority pages and information, because we have to start somewhere. After all sites have launched, we can and will return to yours to add more content.
  • Make sure your site’s content is up-to-date. This is my reference material as I make decisions about content placement within your new site. Outdated content will not be included in new websites.
  • Website purpose has evolved since the older sites were created. Currently, the purpose of department websites is marketing, and our target audience is prospective students (and their parents).
  • The new sites are to be kept lean, and the university now requires complete, page-by-page audits of migrated sites on an annual basis.
  • As the new sites are meant for an outside audience, some sections of your old site won’t be included in NGWP. Current students and faculty can be served directly from your department via SharePoint, Canva, and other internally managed platforms.

How-To Guides

I am working on a new page containing tutorials for common website editing tasks. Currently, there are two tutorials: New Events and New Posts. There are step-by-step instructions including screen shots. Stay tuned for more, and feel free to ask me if there’s a tutorial you’d like to see.
