On February 17-20, 2025, UNCG’s African American and African Diaspora Studies Program will host the 35th annual CACE Conference. CACE 2025 is four days of conversation about environmental justice, local ecologies, digital arts, and the many ways we create meaningful, dynamic community with each other for a larger good. Academic conference papers, non-traditional presentations, artist exhibits and performances address the many aspects of global ecology, including arts, humanities, and stem-related imaginings of global networks, experiences, and futures.
The featured keynote speaker is Dr. A. D. Carson, Professor of Hip Hop and the Global South at the University of Virginia. Dr. Carson will deliver a keynote address at 5PM on Tuesday, February 18.
The conference is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Students, friends, family, teachers, and community members are welcome. Sessions will be held in the EUC Auditorium / Cone Ballroom A. Parking is available in the Oakland Deck on the UNCG campus for an hourly fee. After 5pm, the parking lot adjacent to Gatewood Studio Arts Building is FREE. This event is made possible by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
