All UNCG students are invited to participate in (or simply attend!) the Philosophy Department’s annual Ethics Bowl!
What is an Ethics Bowl?
An Ethics Bowl is a competition in which small teams of students answer questions about morally complex scenarios. The Ethics Bowl format is distinct from a debate in some notable ways. Perhaps most importantly, in an Ethics Bowl it is possible for competitors to agree with one another about the topics being discussed. The goal for all competitors is to draw out as much rational clarity as possible on the issues at stake, and in this sense, competing teams are collaborators.
Teams are awarded points on the basis of the coherence and insight of their contributions to a respectful and productive dialogue. The top two teams will receive prizes.
The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 1.
