CAS Faculty receive support through ORE Faculty Internal Research Awards

UNCG’s Office of Research and Engagement will support 14 faculty-led projects during the 2021-2022 academic year through the New & Regular Faculty Internal Research Awards. This competitive funding program supports the initiation and advancement of research, scholarship, and creative activity. Individual faculty receive up to $5,000 and two or more faculty collaborating on a project receive $10,000. Special congratulations to the 8 projects led by faculty in the College of Arts & Sciences! These faculty and their projects are listed below:

Maia Popova. Chemistry (New Faculty) and Shan Suthaharan. Computer Sciences (Regular Faculty). Machine Learning for Automated Analysis of Students’ Explanations of Infrared Spectroscopy Concepts. (New and Regular Faculty Collaboration Award, Physical & Natural Sciences)

Akira Terui. Biology. External and Internal Controls of Fish Movement in a Natural Stream. (New Faculty Award, Physical & Natural Sciences)

Thomas Weighill. Mathematics and Statistics. Topological Analysis of Geospatial Data. (New Faculty Award, Physical & Natural Sciences)

Margaret Fields-Olivieri. Psychology. Parent Responses to Toddler Emotion in Daily Life: Exploring Innovative Methods for Ecologically Valid Measurement. (New Faculty Award, Social & Behavioral Sciences)

Suzanne Vrshek-Schallhorn. Psychology. Discrimination as a Stressor: Validation of a Novel Interview Measure. (Regular Faculty Award, Social & Behavioral Sciences)
