Join us for this free lecture in UNC Greensboro’s 2023-24 Harriet Elliott Lecture Series, hosted by the Department of Political Science.

Dr. Candis Watts Smith is a professor of political science at Duke University. Smith’s expertise highlights race and ethnicity’s role in shaping the American political landscape. Her research illuminates the ways in which demographic dynamics influence citizens’ and denizens’ of the U.S. understanding of their own identity, their political attitudes, and their policy preferences.

Smith is also a co-host of the Democracy Works podcast.
