Dr. Zachary Levenson, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, has been named a Donald D. Harrington Faculty Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin for the 2022 – 2023 academic year. Dr. Levenson was selected, according to his award letter, “because of [his] outstanding creative accomplishments and the high local interest … in hosting [him] as a visiting colleague.” This prestigious award will allow Dr. Levenson to focus on writing a new book about the origins of theories of racial capitalism in South African debates of the 1970s. His first book, Delivery as Dispossession: Land Occupation and Eviction in the Postapartheid City, was just published by Oxford University Press.
