Dr. Bhuwan Thapa, Assistant Professor in the Geography, Environment, and Sustainability department, has received a new grant award from the Savanna Institute as part of a collaborative agroforestry project funded by the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR). The project — “Mapping Trees in Future Climates: Integrating Knowledge, Data, and Tools to Enhance Agroforestry Adoption for Climate Resilience” — seeks to create high-resolution maps of the Midwestern U.S. to determine the suitability of various woody perennial species under current and future climate conditions. Dr. Thapa is a collaborator on the project.
