Dr. Warren Vidar and Dr. Norman Chiu (Chemistry and Biochemistry) are Co-PIs on a new $150,000 Innovation Impact Grant from the NC Biotechnology Center. The grant will support the purchase of a new sensitive triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. Dr. Vidar is the director of UNCG’s Mass Spectrometry Facility and Dr. Chiu is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The new instrument will replace the facility’s current aging triple quadrupole mass spectrometer.

The new instrument will support the work of at least 15 different researchers from UNCG, NC A&T State University, and other higher education institutions in the region. Biotech companies in the Piedmont Triad can also obtain access to the mass spectrometer through the facility’s standard protocols.
