2024 Biology Weekly Seminar Series

Join the Department of Biology for their weekly seminar series, which covers a broad range of topics from various fields of Biology and are open to the public! Seminars are held each Friday from 3-4 p.m. in Sullivan 201 unless otherwise noted.
November Seminar Topics and Speakers:
Friday, November 1: “Propagating uncertainty about clades, molecular evolution models, and prior distributions to divergence times and branch lengths.” Presented by Dr. David Bickel , associate professor of computer science at UNCG.
Friday, November 8: “Representing Plant Diversity in Macroecology and Models: An evolutionary Approach to make ‘Functional Types’ more Functional.” Presented by Dr. Daniel Brickman of Oregon State University
Friday, November 15: “Establishing a culture of inclusive support and feedback that fosters best practices for teaching and learning.” Presented by Dr. Jonathan Wisco of Boston University
Friday, November 22: “Now is the time to collect: A history of the Field Museum African Expedition of 1896.” Presented by Dr. Paul Brinkman of North Carolina State University and NC Museum of Natural Sciences.
