On Thursday, November 7, 2024, the College of Arts & Sciences held its annual Harriet Elliott Lecture Series in the EUC Auditorium. This year’s series was hosted by the Psychology Department and explored the theme, “Stress & Us: Life Adversity by Other Names.”
The event included a panel discussion by regional scholars, who discussed issues such as racism and cardiovascular health; acculturative stress and resilience among Latinos; the power of racial-ethnic socialization; and adversity’s impact on psychopathology.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. David R. Williams, the preeminent scholar on racism and health. He discussed how to reduce health inequities by renewing emphasis on innovative solutions.
