Dr. Kimberly Peterson, Associate Professor in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistery, has received new NSF funding from Optera LLP. The award will support research to improve measurement of honey bee colony disease and pest resistance. Such measures can inform selective breeding to strengthen honey bee colonies against disease and pests.

The project involves collaboration with another UNCG researcher, Dr. Kaira Wagoner (Biology), who co-founded Optera in 2020 with support from Launch UNCG.
