Dr. Jazmin Graves Eyssallenne, an Assistant Professor in the African American and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) program, has won a Junior Faculty Career Enhancement Fellowship from the Institute of Citizens and Scholars. According to the Institute, “The Career Enhancement Fellows are exceptional scholars whose work broadens the range of perspectives and understandings offered on college campuses and creates opportunities for crucial new scholarly voices to be heard in disciplines and institutions.” Dr. Eyssallenne will use the Fall 2024 fellowship period to work on a book project that examines Islamic mystical or Sufi traditions as practiced in western India by Muslim Sidis, people of East African ancestry.
