Three ceremonies instead of one. Seats spaced far apart. Reminder signs for masks. Only two guests per graduate.
UNC Greensboro’s 2021 Commencement looked quite different this year. But one aspect remained unchanged: The pure joy in this rite of passage.
The College of Arts & Sciences’ Class of 2021 graduated in their own ceremony held on Friday, May 7 at 5 p.m. The event was livestreamed, with the recording viewable here.
Speakers included Chancellor Franklin Gilliam, Dean John Z. Kiss, and Austin Moore, president of the Student Government Association and a political science graduate. Maria Esch served as the CAS tassel-turner.
“The resilience you’ve developed over the past year and a half will continue to serve you well throughout your career,” said Kiss. “I look forward to the day we welcome you back to UNCG as shining examples of determination and resilience.”
