Building Community

Omar H. Ali with students

Dr. Omar H. Ali has been an organizing force on the UNCG campus and broader community to support diversity and inclusivity since 2010, when he joined the AADS faculty of the College of Arts & Sciences. His activities have included establishing Spectrum (a group for students on the autism spectrum), advising the Muslim Student Association and Latinx groups, directing Community Play! (which uses performance to support the development of the neighboring working-class community of Warnersville), and establishing Bridging the Gap (a project that builds relationships between students and police officers using improvisation).  On September 18th, please join Professor Ali, colleagues, and friends for an open conversation about how to build community — something he does masterfully and helps others do with great impact.
