Dr. Hewan Girma, a professor in UNCG’s African American and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) program, will present, “Transnational Adoption: Ethiopian Adoptees and Relinquishing Parent Perspectives.”

The talk focuses on Girma’s research project exploring the perspectives of both Ethiopian adopted children and their adoptive families in the U.S.

More about the speaker: Dr. Hewan Girma is an assistant professor and undergraduate director of the AADS program at UNCG. She is also co-director of the Ethiopian, East African and Indian Ocean Studies Research Network. She received her PhD in sociology and a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies from Stony Brook University in New York.
