SUMMARY:Workshop with Jacoby Cochran and 'In The Beat of The Night'
DESCRIPTION:It’s one thing to tell your own story – it’s something else to create a space that helps other people tell their stories. \n\n\n\nFollowing the October 1 Harriet Elliott Lecture Series Keynote Event\, this workshop will give students and community members a chance to engage with our guest – Jacoby Cochran\, and our community partners – In the Beat of the Night\, in a more interactive conversation.  We will discuss various online and community-based platforms\, as well as techniques for interviewing – with the goal of showing how our combined stories create the kinds of connections that build strong communities.   \n\n\n\nLocation: Elliott University Center (EUC) Kirkland Suite \n\n\n\nPlease contact David Errera at dserrera@uncg.edu or 336.334.5297 at least one week prior to the event to request disability accommodations. A. (2013). Making Samba: A New History of Race and Music in Brazil.
